dash/DATA STUDIO for MWS data - Instructions for using Google Data Studio Operations reporting template available 11.9.20

v1.4 platform updates - Keyword & Target status changes, Search Term negations, and Negative Targets view added to the platform
Wishing you could do away with those bulkfile templates you have to recreate every time you want to do search term negations? Wish no longer because search term negations have come to stay in the dash platform. With our main goal of providing the critical levers you need to manage your Amazon advertising accounts, we just launched the ability to pause/enable/archive keywords and targets, negate search terms, and manage your negated keywords and targets right from the dash platform. To see the full release notes, please check out this link as it contains additional information related to this Advertising Studio release: dash/RELEASE NOTES Combined with the ability to push bulk bid changes to Amazon from the dash platform (v1.1 release), you can now manage your keyword and target statuses, negate search terms including the newly released Auto campaign product targets, and see all of your negated keywords and targets in one simple view. |
Keyword status changes - find poor performing keywords via the custom performance filters in the Keywords & Targets view and pause keywords that are no longer up to snuff. If you're sure you don't want to target a given keyword or product target moving forward, you can also archive records in bulk. Conversely, if you're coming back into a solid seasonal period, you can enable paused keywords so they begin spending and generating sales for you once again. *Pro tip: to see paused keywords or product targets, just toggle on the "Include paused" filter for Targets seen above the data table. To see a video showing the status change functionality, check out this link: dash Keyword & Target Status changes |
Search Term negations - ready to rid your accounts of the tiny little holes that lead to a leaky ACOS? Quickly negate search terms across your entire account by applying custom filters showing you search terms that are not performing the way you'd like in the Keywords & Targets (Search Terms tab) or Tasks & Workflows (Search Terms tab) views. As an example, you can see all search terms that have at least 15 clicks and no sales by applying the pre-built "Non-converting" Optimization filter on the Search Terms tab of either view. If you want to ratchet down your criteria, just click the already applied filters or add your own custom filters across any time range to negate search terms that are not performing up to your standards.
To see videos showing the search term negation functionality in each view, check out this link: dash Search Term Negations |
Negative keywords and targets - see all of your negative keywords and targets in one simple view. Just navigate to the "Negative Targeting" tab of the Keywords & Targets view to see and manage your negative keywords and targets, including the ability to archive negatives that no longer apply. With the Negation Type, Status, and Date Negated (available for SP ads only) contextual fields, you'll never have to guess which negatives you have applied to a campaign or ad group again.

Questions or issues? Although we always do extensive quality assurance, these are new views that may include a bug here and there. Please let us know if you see any issues via the blue "Feedback" tab hovering along the right side of each platform view. Alternatively, please send support@dashapplications.com a note if you are experiencing any issues or have questions about the platform updates. As always, thank you for being a dash partner. We can't wait to hear what you think of the new features! To quicker optimizations and personalized search term analysis, |

v1.4 dash/ADVERTISING STUDIO - Search Term Negations in the Keywords & Targets and Tasks & Workflows views
*Note - the search term negations in dash are live so creating a negation in the dash platform creates the same negation in the Amazon Console.

v1.4 dash/ADVERTISING STUDIO - all Negative Keywords and Product Attribute Targets managed in a single view
*Note - the negative keyword and target statuses are live so changing statuses of keywords or product targets in the dash platform changes those statuses in the Amazon Console

v1.4 dash/ADVERTISING STUDIO - Keywords & Targets Status changes in the dash platform
*Note - the keyword and product target statuses are live so changing statuses of keywords or product targets in the dash platform changes those statuses in the Amazon Console

v1.3 data studio updates - SD Product Targeting, Sales & Orders fields, added data to asinmetric, Currency Exchange rates tables
While we have been grinding away to provide the first few tables of MWS data, we did not hit pause on our Advertising data updates. If you haven't heard about the new MWS data, be sure to reach out so we can get an account connected for you for free during the beta period! This Advertising data release concerns your database and DATA STUDIO subscription with updates for new data points now available. In particular, this update includes:

List of ad types and fields for which API Data is not yet available from Amazon (ongoing updates)
[Updated 9.4.20]
Amazon has not yet released data via the API for the following ad types, and your data set will therefore be missing/understated by any ad performance amounts generated by the following ad/campaign types:
- Sponsored Brands Video ads (coming soon!)
- Sponsored Display for International marketplaces (coming soon, we think...)
- Sponsored Display product targeting level data for International Marketplaces (now available for US and CA!)
- DSP data (API open as of 5.10.20 - email sam.hager@dashapplications.com if you are running DSP so we can find some example accounts to test the endpoint with)
- Attribution Program data (API open as of 9.2.20 - email sam.hager@dashapplications.com if you are running DSP so we can find some example accounts to test the endpoint with)
For field values that are not yet/won't be available, here's a running list:
1) Amazon does not return the SKU values in the productad and productadmetric tables for vendors but does for sellers. We do get ASIN for vendors but not SKU which has been confirmed by Amazon.
- productad.SKU where MerchantType = vendor
- productadmetric.SKU where MerchantType = vendor
Following up to our earlier email, we have confirmed that Amazon is not yet delivering Sponsored Display data for any marketplaces other than the United States (that figures). Per Amazon's Jeffrey Ching:
"Sponsored Display campaign management is not available outside of US at this time. We will send an official announcement when this is released in the API – unfortunately, I do not have a timeline to share at this moment.
Thanks,
Jeffrey"
Per the v1.2 updates, here are some reporting-related ACTIONS REQUIRED we want to make you aware of:
1) Unrelated to the SD data, per v1.2a please note that if you are using any joins/blends/custom queries to pull the new identifying fields (see below) into your reporting dashboard data sources, you may need to remove the identifying field references as they can cause "duplicate field" errors for your data sources. These errors are caused by the fact that the identifying fields are now available directly in each metric table. Any reporting dashboard issues related to this can be simply resolved by removing the field references from your joins/blends/queries.
The new identifying fields that may cause issues are {MerchantType, PortfolioID, PortfolioName, CampaignID, CampaignName, AdGroupID, AdGroupName}
2) Per v1.2e, if you are relying on the sellermonthmetric table in your reporting dashboards, you will now want to include the "SD" related performance fields (such as "SDAdSales") to report on your entire data set. Since the SD data is now split out into its own fields, the SPA fields no longer include the SD performance data. Again, this SD data will be limited to the US marketplace but by including the new SD fields, your dashboards will represent the same performance totals shown prior to the v1.2 update.
*sellermonthmetric {SDAdImpressions, SDAdClicks, SDAdSpend, SDCTR, SDCPC, SDAdOrders, SDAdSales, SDACoS}
3) Also per v1.2e, you will also want to update any reporting dashboard references to the "CampaignType" field to include a campaign type of "sponsoredDisplay". Previously the SD data was included in the "sponsoredProducts" campaign type and could be segmented via the "AdvertisingPlacement" field. Although the "AdvertisingPlacement" field segmentations will still function properly, any direct "CampaignType" references should also include the new "sponsoredDisplay" value to show all data.
This is a lot of information to digest so if you have any questions, especially considering that most are trying to generate reports for clients right now, please do not hesitate to email us at support@dashapplications.com to set up a call.
In summary, what does this response from Amazon mean for you? Basically, your database only includes SD data for US marketplaces. If you're running SD campaigns in other marketplaces, that data is not yet available and your reporting dashboards will be understated by any SD activity generated in non-US marketplaces.
We look forward to the day when Amazon fixes this Grand Canyon-sized gap and are here to help you "bridge" it until they do.
To gaps and bridges and fully stocked fridges,
The dash team

v1.2 data studio updates - SD false start - 4/6/20
Soooo Amazon threw a bit of a wrench our way. After further testing and monitoring our status updates, we confirmed that Amazon is not yet delivering Sponsored Display data for any marketplaces other than the United States. The Amazon-issued API release notes do not state that SD data availability is limited to the US, but we have confirmed as much in our testing and monitoring of the API. Talk about a false start... We have a case opened with Amazon to clarify this point and will pass along any updates or timelines we receive. In the meantime, please let us know if you see any irregularities in your data. Once the SD data is available for all active marketplaces, we will notify everyone as well as incorporate the data into the dash platform. To clarify, SD data for US merchants is available in your database and can be relied upon for reporting, but you'll have gaps in the SD data for merchants operating in other Amazon marketplaces. (Thanks a lot Amazon.) Our apologies for this inconvenience but we will keep hammering on Amazon to get it right so we can deliver all the SD data you need. Thank you to everyone as we continue to improve and expand your data sets! As always, thank you for being a dash partner. Please let us know if you have any questions at support@dashapplications.com. To dealing with Amazon failed starts, restarts, and false starts, |
This release concerns your database and data studio subscription with updates for all kinds of new data points now available. In particular, this update includes:
- Sponsored Display data added to the sellermonthmetric, campaignmetric, adgroupmetric, and productadmetric tables, and fields unique to SD campaigns added to the campaign table for comprehensive reporting and analysis
- The sponsoredbrandsmetric table, which contains all new SB metric fields including detail page views, new to brand orders, order rate new to brand, and other fields for enhanced SB keyword/target reporting and analysis
- Sponsored Brands search terms available in the keywordtargeting table for keyword targeting SB campaigns, allowing you to analyze underlying search terms of SB campaigns. We have also made SB search terms available in the dash platform so you can now analyze SB search terms in Data Master, Keywords & Targets, and the Tasks & Workflows views.
- More identifying fields included in metric tables including MerchantType, PortfolioName, CampaignName, AdGroupName and others for super simple report building
